The holiday season is officially upon us, and that means the gift hunt has started! There are so many places to shop for the the perfect gifts. Malls, big box stores, online retailers, the list goes on. If you’re like me and not brave enough to go out on Black Friday or just not a fan of crowded malls, there’s an alternative—try shopping local this season!
Like Black Friday and Cyber Monday, there’s also Small Business Saturday. A day where you can go out and shop local and support small business in your community. There are so many awesome local shops and retailers in our neighborhoods that you may not know about that sell unique items.
If you’re not sure what shops are near by, there’s a handy guide available here. Many small businesses even offer special discounts on this day too! Etsy, the online destination for buying handmade things, also offers a way to search for local handmade vendors. So you don’t even have to get off the couch to support local artisans.
When we “shopping small” not only can we help boost our local economy, we also can build relationships with our neighbors. So if you plan on shopping local this Small Business Saturday, remember to also stop at your favorite coffee spot and get to know your barista too!
