Ah yes, the holidays. Time to sit by the fire, roasting chestnuts and enjoying a hot cup of cocoa. It is the season of gift giving! This year be creative with your gift ideas and make some of your gifts. There are so many great ideas right here on The Neighborhood. You’ll be whipping up beautiful treats that will be the talk of Christmas Day!
You can never have too many hostess gifts on hand for all of the Christmas parties and last-minute holiday get-togethers. One of my favorite easy gifts to put together is this easy Hot Cocoa Mix recipe. Handmade by you and poured into a shiny mason jar, it really is the perfect present to warm the hearts and homes of your friends.
Hot Cocoa Mix Recipe
1 cup powdered milk
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1 1/2 cups sugar
1 cup non-dairy creamer
1 cup milk chocolate chips
1 cup mini marshmallows
Sift the ingredients gently together in a bowl. If you plan on making a whole bunch of jars at once, you can double or even quadruple this recipe. If you have extra mix, store it in a Tupperware container for future gifts or for your own stash of hot cocoa. Stir well and pour the dry mix into mason jars. My favorite addition to the jars is adding a layer of milk chocolate chips and topping off with yummy mini marshmallows. I love the layered look of the ingredients stacked in the jar.
Don’t forget to include the instructions on how to make the hot cocoa. I printed up sweet little tags for the jars:
For a cozy winter treat, stir 2-3 tbsps of the hot cocoa mix with hot water. Stir well and top with chips and marshmallows. Enjoy!
Tie up with some candy-striped twine and you are ready to gift away! Perfect for teachers, hostess gifts, or even to drop off to your neighbors as a tasty holiday treat.
